KTAADN - Henry David Thoreau’s phonetic spelling of the Abanaki word, KTAADEN, meaning “great mountain.” Thoreau's "Ktaadn," is an 1848 account of his 1846 visit to Maine’s Great North Woods.

KATAHDIN - the highest mountain in Maine and the Northern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail. It reigns over the town of Millinocket and Baxter State Park in Northern Maine.
